Practical, plainly written guides to banking, business and corporate finance, trade finance, foreign exchange, international payments, digital banking, security and personal finance — educational content you can read, verify and act on.
The knowledge centre
Practical financial knowledge, written to be understood
Equatorial Insights is the financial knowledge centre of Equatorial Bank Uganda Limited. It exists to explain how money, banking and trade actually work — for a household managing a monthly budget, for a business weighing up a working-capital facility or a letter of credit, and for anyone who wants a clear, unhyped explanation of a financial subject before making a decision.
Nothing here is a sales page. Articles are written to stand on their own: they define the terms they use, explain how something works, set out the trade-offs and limitations, and cite the official sources behind any factual claim. Where a subject connects to a service we provide, we say so and link to it — but the article is education first.
The hub is organised into topic clusters rather than one long stream, so you can move directly to the area you need — trade finance, foreign exchange, digital banking, business finance or personal budgeting — and then sideways into the subjects that sit next to it.

How these articles are produced
Equatorial Insights is an editorial publication. Articles are prepared and reviewed by the Equatorial Bank Uganda editorial team before publication, and are held to the standards below.
Written for the reader
Each article defines the terms it uses and explains how something works before discussing what to do about it. No filler, no keyword padding, no repetition between articles.
Sources cited
Factual and regulatory points reference the primary source — such as the Bank of Uganda, UBOS, the International Chamber of Commerce or the East African Community — so you can verify them yourself.
Dated and maintained
Every article carries its publication date and, where it has been revised, a last-updated date. Time-sensitive material is reviewed rather than left to age.
Conservative by default
We do not publish invented statistics, product terms, rates, awards or claims. Educational content is clearly labelled as education, not as financial advice.
Questions about a specific product or account should go to our team via Contact or the Help Centre.
